I was an awkward, geeky, braces having, glasses wearing freshman. It was my first day in high school. And I was super nervous. I walked into my choir class. I knew the director very well, she'd been in my ward for years. I had so many good friends in the class, it was sure to be a super fun, stress free semester. Then I entered the classroom that fateful day in 2007, and saw the most handsome man I'd ever seen. He was wearing an MVHS t-shirt and had this silly, yet somehow fashionable in his own way, beanie on his head. He had the sweetest smile, was fairly quiet, and seemed like such a geek. But that's what I liked the most. However, I was an awkward 15 year-old and had no intention of ever flirting with some random guy in my choir class. After a few months of admiring from afar, I noticed my friends had become friends with him. And I decided I'd start too. By the beginning of 2008, we talked and talked and slowly buy surely because absolute best friends. However, he was leaving on a mission. So, we continued our friendship through letter writing, emails and packages. The occasional cassette tape with each others voices recorded, telling stories about what we were up to. After two long years, he returned in 2010. Our friendship then blossomed into a courtship. We dated and dated and fell deeper and deeper in love.
In January 2012 we went for a wonderful walk around the St. George, UT temple. He took me to the bench where we had our first kiss. He held me, hugged me, told me that he loved me. Before I knew it he was on one knee, asking me to marry him. I cried for about 15 minutes before I finally muttered out, "YES!"
On June 21, 2012 we became a forever family. We were sealed together in the Salt Lake City, UT Temple for time and all eternity. Nothing makes me happier than knowing I get to spend forever with my very best friend.
We now live in Kemmerer, WY. We're loving a every minute up here together. I'm a Port of Entry Officer, JD is a security guard. Our favorite things include Star Wars, Lightsabers, playing with babies, watching Netflix, playing board games, playing video games, doing puzzles, cooking and being together.
